School on the Go

If it isn't the day to stay at a desk but you need that white board, here's what I do.   I have a plastic tray that is white on the bottom.  I grab the books, dry erase markers, rag, pile them on the tray and go.  The tray is my board.  Our white 3-ring binders also work. Probably any light colored, non-porous surface will do.

Save that consumable workbook

Plastic report covers are long-lasting and inexpensive.  Put over a workpage and the opposite page, they will protect the pages and allow the student to fill in the page using Vis a Vis markers. (This is a brand name for the overhead projector waterbased pens. Are there others?)  The markers are fun to use because of the colors and ease of flow.  It's best to wipe them clean off the book and be sure they are dry before using again.  They can be used over story books too for when you want a student to circle all the rhyming words or whatever.
